Dr. Folakemi Williams
Dr. Folakemi Williams is a proud alumnus of City College, having completed her Master of Education degree in Early Childhood Education at City College in 2014. Her educational journey at City College equipped her with deep understanding of pedagogy and a strong dedication to promoting equity in education. Subsequently, she received her Doctorate in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2019. Her doctoral research was dedicated to advancing cultural competence among educators working in urban neighborhoods, the foundation for her commitment to fostering inclusive education environments. Dr. Williams is honored to be serving as the Program Director the Early Childhood Education Program at City College, where her own educational journey began, which laid a solid foundation for her career. With seven years of experience as an elementary school teacher, she understands both the challenges and opportunities that arise in the classroom. In this leadership position, she leveraged her experience and background to implement restorative justice practices benefiting students, families and the staff. These practices are instrumentational in enhancing students’ knowledge of social justice, racial understanding, gender identity and all forms inclusion. Dr. William’s profound belief in the power of restorative justice as a transformative educational tool has had a profound impact on the Bronx Community Charter School’s culture.
